True is.
Filipinos didn't even aware if when was Escrima / Kali Arnis started, history is so hard to trace back and review because there is no writing if when such been started and who really discover it.
According to some writings, it had been came from esgrima (spanish words for fencing) but they has no solid evidence.
Wherein, when Malays able to transport from their place going to Philippines before the Spanish invade said country, is something that they have the arts with them as they make such place provided for their people, wherein as time goes trough, they able to develop it, but will big span of time, wherein the first big trials is against Ferdinand Magallanes from Spain and his troops, against the men of Lapu-lapu who fought up the extreme of their skills and knowledge, bow / arrow and spear versus sword and canon.
